Toodyay DHS School Council plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school's priorities reflect the needs of students.
The functions of our School Council are covered by legislation and includes both approval and advisory roles. Some of the matters our Council makes are decisions on fees and charges, booklists, sponsorship and dress codes. Our Council makes these decisions with the Principal and others who ensure the decisions adhere to legislative and policy requirements.
The Principal also seeks the advice of the Council to inform them before making management decisions. Our Council has the right to understand the Principal's decisions (except where they involve confidential information and decisions about people or families.)
The Council does not intervene in the control or management of the school. This is the role of the Principal.
