The School Education Act 1999 requires parents to send their child/children to school every day the school is open for instruction, unless there is a good reason for them not to attend.
If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years. There is no safe number of days for missing school - each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes.
Attendance patterns are established early - a child regularly missing days in kindergarten or in the early years of school will often continue to miss classes in the later years, and receive lower test scores than their classmates. attendance is monitored by the Department and all schools are mandated to monitor and work with parents to improve attendance if it falls below an acceptable level.
If your child has an appointment or needs to be collected due to illness, parents and/or guardians are asked to go to the front office.

If your child is absent from pre-primary to year 10 for whatever reason, then we ask that you notify us by phone, in writing, SMS or via the SmartLink App. It is vital that we have the current telephone number and address of the parent and of a relative or neighbor for emergency contact. When a student is absent from school, an SMS indicating this will be sent to the first contact's mobile, unless notification of the absence has been received. Please reply as soon as possible with a reason for the absence.
If you know that your child will be away for an extended period, please notify the school prior. In cases of illness, the Principal may request a medical certificate. Any other issues with your child(s) attendance should be brought to the attention of the Attendance Officer who can provide assistance and work with you to ensure your child attends school each day.
Contact the Attendance Officer, Julie Wood if you have any queries: julie.a.wood@education.wa.edu.au or phone the school.
